National Food Authority (NFA)

  • Foundation. The National Food Authority was founded in September 26, 1972, under the name National Grains Authority (NGA) through Presidential Decree No. 4. On January 14, 1981 Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1770 was issued which reconstituted the NGA into what is now the National Food Authority (NFA). This decree widened the agency’s social responsibilities and commodity coverage.
  • Mandates. The National Food Authority is vested the functions of ensuring the food security of the country and the stability of supply and price of the staple grain-rice.
  • Mission. The NFA was established to pursue and accelerate the integrated growth and modernization of the food marketing industry; provide excellent services towards attaining food security and the stabilization of the supply and prices of rice; assist the food marketing industry move towards global competitiveness; and empower rice farmers.
  • Vision. The NFA as a government corporation shall be at the forefront in providing excellent needed services to the grains marketing industry towards global competitiveness and committed to ensuring food security.
  • Administration. NFA is currently headed by its administrator Angelito T. Banayo along with 14 regional directors.
  • Location. The Central Office is located at Sugar Center Bldg., North Avenue, Diliman Quezon City. There are also provincial offices located for other regions.
