ABOUT SACB

Useful articles, books, and other research outputs which are relevant in addressing the problems currently faced by developing and emerging economies have rapidly mushroomed over the past few years. Consequently, public, private, and non-government organizations' interest in the social, political, economic, and environmental problems and possibilities for sustainable growth and development in developing countries has intensified. However, despite the blooming of ideas and the rapid advances achieved in the information and communication technology, especially in the use of the internet in the spread and dissemination of ideas, there are surprisingly few organizations that have attempted to provide an accessible venue where these multitude of research outputs found in articles, books, and other publications are processed and summarized in simple and readable language.

This website represents SACB's efforts to fill this gap. SACB attempts to put together in one convenient website the summaries of articles, books, and other research outputs in the areas of food, fisheries, water, energy, environment, investment, and population. The articles, books, and research outputs summarized are selected for their relevance to the issues and problems facing the Philippine economy in particular, and similarly-situated developing countries in general. SACB's aim is to present the most useful and recently-produced collection of materials (in summary format) which are concerned or are applicable to developing-country settings.

SACB expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the various individuals and organizations whose research outputs and ideas form part of our collection of summaries and posted in this website. SACB wants to reiterate and acknowledge the relevance of the original works of the authors that form the core of this collection of summaries. However, the summaries present the views of the authors in brief and simple-to-understand language. Thus, the views presented here are still those of the authors, and do not necessarily represent the views, policies, or ideas of SACB. Nevertheless, any inadvertent typing error in the summaries is ours and would be immediately corrected once discovered. SACB hopes that this inter-sectoral one-stop website provides invaluable learning resources to the concerned public, especially to the policy wonks and development advocates in the developing world.
