Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA)

  • Vision. Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA) envisions humane, gender-sensitive and environmentally sound rural societies where people control and own the basic means of production and exchange; critically and actively participate in governance; protect and care for the environment; and live the values of authentic humanism in a Philippine society characterized by justice, freedom, democracy and national sovereignty.
  • Mission. PAKISAMA is a national peasant confederation and movement dedicated to the empowerment of the Filipino small farmers, fishers, rural women, youth, and indigenous peoples leading in the advocacy and implementation of sustainable agrarian and aquatic reform and rural development and equality of men and women, and responding to the problem of poverty and injustice.
  • Goals. PAKISAMA seeks to:
o   Organize and consolidate the peasantry to effectively help influence civil society, government, and business policies and programs and deliver meaningful services to the broad peasantry
o   Ensure that local, national and international laws and policies of government, civil society, and business organizations support the growth and development of the peasants, especially their needs for land and aquatic tenure security, sustainable agri-aqua cultures, and enlarged and fair market for their products
o   Ensure organizational and financial sustainability by developing and implementing projects that would generate resources and enlarge its flexibility and capacity to support its core operations
  • Strategy. PAKISAMA aims to empower the peasant sector by:
o   Organizing, federating and consolidating peasant groups territorially, sectorally, and by industry to realize sustainable and meaningful agrarian and aquatic reforms and national development
o   Developing and strengthening our socio-political consciousness and involvement, economic base, and cultural influence
o   Providing a vehicle for effective and meaningful peasant participation and involvement
o   Linking and networking based on principled but critical partnerships
  • Administration. PAKISAMA is currently led by its national chairperson, Vicente A. Fabe.
